Morgan Helmberger

Morgan Helmberger began her law enforcement career with Plano Police Department in 2013, where she served as a patrol officer. During her time in Plano, Morgan has gained experience in several different assignments. 

 

Morgan has worked with the Professional Standards Unit as a Background Investigator, conducting investigations of over 40 police applicants. Additionally, she assisted with policy and SOP updates, organization, and preparation for the on-site CCLEA assessment in the Accreditation Unit. Morgan also assisted in the Crime Prevention Unit, which is when she first became involved in community-oriented events and projects. She assisted in organizing and implementing the most recent recruiting strategy for the department that was led by fellow PLET Instructor Sergeant Jon Britton. She has worked with several community programs, mainly the Citizen’s Police Academy and Youth Police Academy.

 

Regarding Citizen’s Police Academy involvement, she has been present as an instructor at Shoot, Don’t Shoot events with the citizens for several years. Other community events that she has assisted in as needed include Women in Law Enforcement, Leadership Day, Drug Take-Back, National Night Out, Personal Safety Seminars, and more. Through the many citizen programs and events, Morgan has gained invaluable experience with the community’s perspective of the police functions as well as their expectations. 

 

Morgan has represented the department at various events as a recruiter for over three years. She has attended numerous recruiting events all over the State of Texas and in several surrounding states. While at these events, Morgan has been asked to speak in front of several groups of people and build relationships with many administrative professionals. She has presented for multiple police academies in the state on several occasions. She has received outstanding reviews for her recruiting efforts and community relations during these events.

 

Additionally, Morgan was featured in a Community Impact news publication regarding recruitment efforts in the department as they seek diversity. Throughout the last year alone, she has coordinated and/or attended at least seven recruiting trips in multiple states and attended a Recruitment Workshop in Oklahoma. She has received numerous commendations for her outstanding police work from both citizens and colleagues. 

 

Morgan has been an active Field Training Officer for over two years. She will be receiving her Advanced Peace Officer Certificate in the upcoming months and is a certified TCOLE instructor. She is an Advanced DWI practitioner and has over 1600 hours of continuing education in law enforcement training.
