Brian Coleman
Since 2007, Brian has been employed by Haverford Township Police Department. While employed by Haverford Township, Brian worked in the Detective Division, Special Operations Division, and am currently assigned to the Patrol Unit as a Sergeant. While assigned to the Detective Division, Brian had the opportunity to work in plainclothes in response to a high count of incidents of burglaries and thefts from vehicles. In the Special Operations Unit, part of his responsibility was, and still is, the training of officers is tactics pertaining to vehicle investigations as well as Active Shooter response.
During the time of the plainclothes assignments with Haverford Township Police Department, responsibilities included patrol on foot and in vehicles of the areas of concern where the incidents occurred. Brian also had the opportunity to be part of incidents where items were sold on Craigslist and a “meet and buy” exchange operation would be set up. During those incidents, arrests were made, and convictions were held based on the investigation conducted. As an instructor for Haverford Township Police Department, I’m a lead instructor in tactics and response to Active Shooter Response and a Team Leader for our Special Response Team.
Brian also is a lead presenter to school district employees and private business employees for their response to an Active Shooter. Prior to 2007, Brian was employed by the Philadelphia Police Department, and was assigned to the 25th District in uniformed patrol. After serving 2 years in patrol, Brian was selected to a Divisional Task Force which encompassed three of the highest crime/drug areas in Philadelphia. While in the Task Force, Brian had many opportunities to work plainclothes for many operations such as drugs sales, robberies, and burglaries. It is also during this time Brian had the opportunity to work with Philadelphia’s Police Department’s Narcotics Strike Force and Narcotics Field Units.
In working with the Narcotics Strike Force and Field Units, Brian routinely was part of surveillance and take down team for open air drug sales in the North Philadelphia. Upon those arrests, convictions were upheld based on the thorough investigations done during the investigations. With regards to the robberies and burglaries, Brian had the opportunity on many occasions to do surveillance on areas where patterns of robberies and burglaries occurred. During those investigations, arrests were made based on patterns and descriptions of the suspects and after complete investigations, convictions were upheld.
