Course Overview

Congratulations! You’re finally wearing that badge. Now it’s time to get to work. Just about the time you get that unstoppable feeling, you’re hit with the realities of police work... long nights, crazy calls, unpredictable people, court subpoenas, department politics, odd hours, mental exhaustion, policy updates, family adjustments, missed holidays, public pressure, unnecessary stress, and the list continues.

The first five years of the job are crucial to the long-term success of any officer. If you are not prepared, it can be a long and troubling road. These years can make or break you, yet the challenges faced and specific training needs revealed during this time are often overshadowed by more advanced or specialized training geared towards tenured officers. That is why we have created a course to address the challenges and promote the success of officers exclusively in the 1-5 year range. This critical transition phase that all officers must endure is full of growth and change, but that growth must be guided in the right direction. Successful role models are created from successful rookies. So get started on the right track as early as possible, provides the greatest opportunities for future success. This course is designed around three key concepts that influence the first five years:

- Mental Fitness

- Tactical Development

- Professional Growth

The mission of this class is to provide the opportunity for newer officers to develop their skills, share knowledge and experiences, and support others in the same transitional phase in an environment that is conducive to their learning and discussion.
