Processing the Sexual Assault Crime Scene - 1 Day Course

An Investigators Key to Unlocking the Door to Iron Clad Evidence

Nothing strikes fear into a community quicker than news headlines that contain the word “Rape” and the phrase “ No arrest has been made”.   This crime affects more than the victim, it affects the community at large.  Police administrators often receive pressure to make a an arrest in these cases to restore the sense of safety in the community.

Investigators recognize that these cases contain unique challenges in the discovery, processing, and utilization of evidence found at the crime scene. Evidence is often destroyed by the victim long before the police are notified of the offense.  Some victims wait hours, or days to report the crime.

This course will focus on the processing of the sexual assault crime scene.  Investigators have one chance to gather evidence that will lead to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.  This course will also address the fact that some of the most powerful evidence gathered during the sexual assault investigation is contained in victim, witness and suspect statements.
