Human Trafficking is nothing less than modern day slavery. There are two forms of Human Trafficking: Sex and Labor. Both forms are difficult, complex, and time consuming investigations. In order to properly conduct an investigation there are many steps and considerations needed for a successful prosecution.
It is important to understand the laws: Federal and State. Once you know the laws how do you apply them? Does your department have policies and procedures for the investigations/operations? Is there a federal, state, or county prosecutor assigned to be the “go to” for these cases. Does your agency have ties with federal law enforcement partners, FBI, ICE, ATF, and DEA? Does your agency have an understanding of what ICE’s role can be with foreign immigrants?
How do you get the information? Sting operation, Concerned Citizen, Parent, Patrol Officer, Church Clergy, etc.?
What pre-investigations needs to be done? Internet, language, cell phone companies, cars, addresses, airport/bus, their modes of transportation.
This intense two day course will assist you in learning all aspects of completing a successful human trafficking investigation and how to conduct undercover vice sting operations. We will cover tactics, ideas, equipment, picking your undercover persons to complete details.
